Those of you who love Frank Sinatra, like myself, may be familiar with his famous song about Chicago. I had the fortunate luck to be able to visit Chicago for a week in 2004, when my uncle was getting married. I was wide-eyed and 20 years old, strolling the streets of one of my country’s greatest cities. How beautiful it was! How full of life!
I just loved the fast paced, the L Train, the Frank Lloyd Wright houses in Oak Park, the restaurants….everything. Of course, I was there in the Spring, when the weather is nice. I don’t think I would want to be there for one of Chicago’s famously rough winters.
Still, there is something about Chicago and I find myself wanting to go back for another visit.
When I was there, the famous Cloud Gate sculpture (also known as ‘the bean’) by Anish Kapoor was not yet flaunting its mirrored curves at Millennium Park on the Lake Michigan waterfront. I wasn’t yet old enough to enjoy some of the fantastic night life Chicago has to offer, and I didn’t have nearly enough time there to explore the town to my full satisfaction.
Yes, Chicago…I would love to visit you once more. Come with me on a visual tour of what I can only describe as a great city…
